Mortgage & Finance Association of Australia (MFAA)

The MFAA is the peak industry body for mortgage and finance professionals in Australia, providing education, standards and guidelines to ensure the orderly and ethical operation of the mortgage and finance industry in Australia.

Members of the MFAA have strict requirements they must adhere to, including:

• establishment internal dispute resolution procedures,

• membership of an approved external disputes resolution service,

• ethical standards in marketing and advertising,

• standards to ensure disclosure of commissions and payments,

• holding of Professional Indemnity Insurance, and,

• probity and credit checks for accredited staff members.

These requirements help to provide peace of mind and protect consumers.

Credit Ombudsman Service Limited (COSL)

COSL operates the Credit Ombudsman Service (COS), an independent External Dispute Resolution scheme available to clients of COSL members.
